ISLAY MULTIGENERATIONAL GARDEN AND POLYTUNNELS

A new garden project at Gortanvogie will bring all ages together to grow food, stay active and support wellbeing.

Growing vegetables, fruit and flowers is good for learning about the environment and great for maintaining physical health and wellbeing. Meeting, talking and working together in group of all ages keeps seniors young and active and allows the juniors to lend their strength and enthusiasm and learn from the store of experience on offer.

Multigenerational activity has well proven health and wellbeing benefits for young and old alike. This project is the brainchild of Diane McMillan (HSCP Unit Manager Gortanvogie) and we are very pleased to be working with her to bring together Gortanvogie residential home, Islay Primary Schools and other Islay organisations in an effort to establish multigenerational polytunnel gardening at Gortanvogie for the benefit of all.
